Illuminated manuscript leaf, circa 1450, southern Italy. 6 × 8 inches. From a Breviary, bifolium on finest uterine vellum, two columns of gothic text per folio, with multiple initials in red, blue, and gold leaf. One particularly large Lombardic style initial ‘P’ with extra gold leaf on the recto.
