The Venus of Capua was discovered in the amphitheatre of Capua in 1750, and remains in Naples to this day. Both the Capuan Venus and the Venus de Milo (discovered some seventy years later) — Roman marble copies of bronze Greek originals — are thought to derive from a lost 4th century original.
