Terms of Sale
Last updated: June 28, 2026
Descriptions and condition. Each item is described, and its condition and provenance stated, to the best of our knowledge and represents our considered professional opinion based on our research and examination at the time of listing. All items are guaranteed as described. Dimensions are approximate, and the colour and appearance of items may vary slightly from how they appear on your screen. We are glad to provide additional images, a condition report, or further information on request, and we encourage you to ask any questions before purchasing. We are happy to arrange a telephone or video call to discuss a piece before purchase.
Attribution. Where we attribute a work to a named artist, maker, period, or origin, that attribution reflects our honest professional opinion. Qualified terms carry their conventional meanings in the art and antiques trade — for example, “attributed to” indicates a work we believe to be wholly or in part the work of the named artist; “circle of”, “school of”, “after”, “manner of”, and “follower of” indicate progressively more distant relationships to the named artist or model. Such qualified attributions are statements of scholarly opinion and not guarantees of authorship.
Authenticity. We stand behind the items we sell. If, within 12 months of the date of sale, a purchaser establishes to our reasonable satisfaction — supported by the written opinion of a recognised authority acceptable to both parties — that an item is a deliberate forgery or is materially not as described as to authorship or authenticity, we will rescind the sale and refund the original purchase price upon return of the item in the same condition in which it was sold. This is our entire liability in such an event.
Provenance and cultural property. All items are legally owned by us or offered by us with the authority to sell, and are offered in good faith and in compliance with applicable cultural-property laws and regulations. We undertake reasonable due diligence regarding the provenance and lawful status of the items we sell. Buyers are responsible for satisfying themselves as to any import, export, or licensing requirements that may apply to an item in their own jurisdiction.
Returns. If, for any reason, you find that an item does not meet your expectations, returns are accepted within fourteen (14) days of delivery confirmation, provided we receive the returned item in the same condition in which it was shipped. Refunds are issued to the original payment method. Return shipping charges and insurance are the responsibility of the buyer. We recommend that returned items be professionally packed, tracked, and fully insured; the item remains the buyer’s responsibility until received by us.
Final sales. Items confirmed as sold and shipped in person, or collected locally, are sold as final.
Payment and dispatch. Payment may be made through PayPal (no account needed), wire transfer, or cash (local pickup only). Title to and risk in an item pass to the buyer upon receipt. Items are dispatched once payment has cleared.
Pricing and availability. Prices are stated in US dollars unless otherwise indicated. We make every effort to ensure that listings are accurate and current, but availability is not guaranteed until a sale is confirmed, and we reserve the right to correct errors in pricing or description.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
